About Gujaratipedia

Gujaratipedia is a free, independent guide to Gujarat. It answers the everyday questions people search for, such as which hospital in Surat patients rate highest or which Gujarati films came out in 2024, with lists built from public data and a source for every figure.

What is here

• City guides and ranked lists. 84,435 places in 48 cities, drawn from public Google Maps listings, sorted into categories and ranked by review-weighted rating. A city and category get their own page only when enough places have real review volume. How the ranking works.
• Gujarati cinema. 806 feature films released since 2014, each checked against IMDb or Wikipedia, with the people who made them.
• People and culture. Sourced lists of business leaders, cricketers, athletes, politicians, authors, saints, creators, dishes, festivals, places and institutions. Each entry links to where the fact came from.

Where the data comes from

• Local places, ratings, review counts, phone numbers and opening hours: public Google Maps listings, collected in batches from July to September 2026. Each list shows its own collection month.
• Films: IMDb and Wikipedia for titles, credits and ratings; trade publications such as Koimoi, Sacnilk and Ormax for box office, named row by row.
• People: Wikipedia for biographies; Forbes and Hurun for net worth; Social Blade and vidIQ for YouTube subscribers; Instagram profiles for follower counts.
• IT and marketing agencies: Clutch.co ratings and profile details.

What is deliberately left out

• Pages for single businesses. A page that only repeats a business's Google listing adds nothing, so businesses appear inside ranked lists instead, with a direct link to their Google Maps listing.
• Guesses. Unknown fields stay blank. Nobody's gender is inferred from a name; the actresses list comes from a sourced list.
• Paid placement. No business can pay to be listed or ranked.

Corrections

If an entry is wrong, out of date or missing, the fix goes in when a public source supports it: a Google Maps listing, an official website, a Wikipedia article or a news report. Ratings are refreshed from Google Maps rather than edited by hand.

Known limits

• The directory is a large sample, not a census. A missing business has not been judged; it has not been collected yet.
• Google ratings can be gamed. Weighting by review count limits the damage but does not remove it. Read recent reviews before you decide.
• Google's own categories are noisy. Gujaratipedia lists a place only when its Google category is one we have checked for that list, so some real businesses are left out rather than put in the wrong list.
